American Heart Association has listed down 10 primary risk factors for heart. Those are as mentioned below:

Family history - Those people are at greater risk of getting heart disease who have a blood relative having heart attack before reaching the age of 50.

Behavior patterns that has stress or stress-producing personality - Stress, tension and aggressiveness plays an important role in getting heart disease for you. In stress the hormonal systems of our body acts differently. These situation usually speed up heart beat rates and at the same time it also increases the blood pressure. This helps in burning up or it can also be said that the adrenal hormones are metabolized. If this does not happen due to a personality pattern that interprets everything as a challenge or threat, then the hormones remain in the bloodstream. In such a case the fails to relax and hence the blood vessels and heart are under constant low-grade pressure. As a consequence, the wear and tear inside may result as to heart disease.

Inactivity - Heart disease inactivity is beyond question. We usually get up after heavy meal and sit down in front of the television or doze off till it is time to retire to bed. These habits are in fact not good. A noted Swedish physiologist Per-Orlaf Astrand said "anyone who intends to be sedentary should pass a careful medical examination in order to establish whether ones state of health is good enough to stand the inactivity!"

High blood pressure - This is considered as one of the main factors of heart disease. Smoking also adds some risk. High blood pressure actually put stress to our circulatory system in the same way as air stresses a balloon.
